South Asian Individuals Holding Hands

Cultural Nuances in a South Asian American Divorce

In South Asian countries, divorce is neither as common nor as easy to get as it is in America. On March 20th, Sugar Land divorce attorney Yasmin Kutty and LCAHouston, will be hosting an interactive event to provide information and resources for South Asians in the Houston area who are interested in pursuing divorce.

Appearing on the Asian Connection segment on Houston’s Fox 26, Ruchi Mukherjee, editor and publisher of LCAHouston, and Mrs. Kutty spoke with Ruben Dominguez to discuss this event, which will focus on domestic violence, and its impact on the South Asian population in and around Houston. Tickets to the event are free, but reservations must be made in advance. You can reserve your spot by emailing info@LCAHouston.com.

Attorney Kutty appeared on Asian Connection in 2016 to discuss the cultural nuances of divorce in the South Asian American community. A large percentage of Mrs. Kutty’s clients come from Pakistan, India, China, Korea, and other Asian countries where expectations before and after marriage are much different than they are in the United States – particularly from family. How these things impact decisions related to divorce cannot be overlooked during proceedings involving individuals from these communities. If you are curious to learn more, send an email to info@LCAHouston.com to secure your seat at next Tuesday’s event.

If you live in or around Houston and are in need of a divorce attorney, please call the Kutty Law Firm at (713) 955-7477 to schedule a consultation today. Mrs. Kutty serves Houston, The Woodlands, Conroe, Katy, and surrounding areas from her office in Sugar Land.
