Ms. Kutty was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1996, in New York in 1998 and in Texas in 2009. She has practiced law for over eighteen years. She has practiced family law in Texas for the last five years. Ms. Kutty handles divorces and other family law cases from inception through final trial on the merits.
Ms. Kutty graduated from Northwestern University, College of Arts and Sciences in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a major in Political Science. In addition, she graduated from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law in 1995.
Ms. Kutty has six years of consumer fraud experience serving as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York under both Eliot Spitzer and Andrew M. Cuomo administrations. She recovered for New York State $425,000 in civil penalties and $50,000 in costs in a settlement against Jos. A. Bank Clothiers for misleading or false advertising with sales prices that involved little or no discounting of merchandise. In addition, Ms. Kutty handled the investigation and settlement against Morgan Stanley DW Inc. for failure to supervise a rogue broker. She obtained $740,000 in restitution for victims and $300,000 in costs and penalties for the State of New York. Both cases received national media coverage. In addition, Ms. Kutty has nine years of family law experience in New York and Texas serving as an ad litem attorney for children, representing victims of domestic violence in family court, serving as a temporary assistant attorney general for over two years in the Child Support Division of the Office of the Texas State Attorney General, and practicing family law as a solo practitioner for the last three years.
Ms. Kutty is a member of the Texas State Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, and the Fort Bend Bar Association. She serves on the Board of the HGI Counseling Center, a mental health services non profit in Harris County, is the President of the Fort Bend Exchange Club, a non profit that promotes the prevention of child abuse and heads the Legal Eagles, a networking group of attorneys in Harris and Fort Bend Counties. Ms. Kutty currently handles a high volume divorce practice and litigates in Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery Counties. She is regularly appointed to serve as an ad litem attorney in child protective service cases, as an amicus for children in contested divorce cases and as an amicus for children in adoptions.
In 2009, Ms. Kutty received a special award from then Attorney General of New York, Andrew M. Cuomo who is now the Governor of New York, for her actions in a statewide debt collection initiative against harassing debt collection agencies.
Ms. Kutty currently resides in Sugar Land, Texas with her husband, Dr. Malik Kutty, and their two children.
